One of the main goals of the policy of the province of East-Flanders is stimulating innovation, creativity and sustainable development. Examples of this policy are for instance the Climate Plan and Climate action plan of the province of East- Flanders.
This policy is carried out through regional cooperation of stakeholders from the local, regional and federal level.
Examples of the role as a cooperating authority are: the leading role of the province of East Flanders in regional strategic urban plans and projects throughout the region as well as being partner in Interreg projects on energy transition and climate adaptation and mitigation (See2Do, Frames, Coben, Valys, Triple C, Star2C’s) and encouraging international cooperation with diverse stakeholders, such as knowledge institutes.
